A Brief History These days the video camera is part of our lives - With prices falling and standards rising, most families own a video camera or at least have the use of one. However this has not always been the case; thirty to forty years ago, video was a distant dream and those who could afford to were using cine cameras and projectors. With technology ever on the increase, the mid-eighties saw the arrival of the video camera, with its ease of use, immediacy, and long battery life, not to mention vastly-improved picture quality and stereo sound. Not surprisingly cine took a back seat, and now many tens of thousands (or more!) cine reels lie in homes and lofts around the world, with fond and irreplaceable memories from yesteryear lying untouched and gathering dust, frozen in time. The Answer - cine-2-DVD We transfer your precious footage to a digital format, which enables us to maintain quality (i.e. the original quality of your movie is retained) The choices that follow are numerous; transfer direct to VHS or DVD (or any AV format you choose), add music and/or titles, have chapter points (if DVD) or straight play, etc etc. A popular choice is to add a subtle fade in and out at the start of each cine movie, along with a nice title to include the date and location filmed if known. Stills can also be taken from the digital footage and added to the DVD disk cover and sleeve, adding that really personal touch. Copies can also be made for viewing abroad (eg USA), and converted accordingly at the final stage Running time for a DVD is 2 hours max, and approx. calculations for your cine reels are below:- 50 foot cine reels last approx 4 minutes each All the standard cine formats can be converted, including Regular 8, Super 8, 9.5mm and 16mm. If sound is present, this will be included on the finished conversion. Where possible, tapes are placed in chronological order if clearly labelled Using our conversion process enables you to give your cine films a new lease of life. |
